A Poem for Fred
Into the hallway and its there we see
All of your hats hung high atop your coats.
One of earch for every occassion, for every event.
Into the living room we then do walk,
You are there smiling as we enter the room.
Standing on ceremony, you rise from your chair to welcome us warmly and shake us by the hand.
After we have seated ourselves, there by the window,
You sit back down in your favourite chair.
Always with those twinkling eyes and that mischievious grin.
We sit with some tea and talk of the weather,
Later talking of stories of your war in which you proudly served.
Your progess in your family tree, in which your interest was keen.
We will never forget your company, your kind words and wisdom,
Your brave heart and strong soul will go on,
Even when we, and this world, has been and gone.
-A poem for rememberance of Fred, grandfather, veteran and friend.
Never Forget
May we never forget that day, that sight,
When the towers bent and broke under that fateful flight.
Plumes of smoke and ash filling the sky,
All we could do was stand and scream; “why?”
Fire and choking and burning the floors above,
Where now was God’s famed love?
The events repeat and another hits the tower’s twin,
Onlookers helpless in the magnitude of the sin.
Sirens soon replace the screams and shouts,
Heroes rush in to save all they can in any amount.
Without hesitation or pausing for fear,
A comfort to those trapped, knowing they were near.
Time goes by in this hour less day,
But horror is revived as the towers lean and sway.
In slow motion we watch them fall,
One by one, to add to it all.
A monster of smoke, dust and glass engulf and chase the crowds,
They run to evade the choking cloud.
Buildings and the skies disappear in the mess,
Disorientation and panic in the thickening blindness.
Live for those who did not have the choice,
Shout for those heroes that never had a voice,
Remember that day for those with uncertain futures;
Never forget the terror behind the pictures.
Closing In
The sun struggles to fight against the clouds,
Colours of watery orange and yellow gives away the uncertainty.
Nothing moves, nothing makes a sound.
The wind that was once erratic and unforgiving has now ceased;
No birds are singing, no butterflies are flying.
The earth has stopped.
The sky grows dark and the air thickens,
Breathing just became a little more difficult.
The sun has lost its fight, swallowed by blackness and lost forever,
Clouds consume and crush the last rays of light .
The world is closing in and deciding our fate; unsure whether to suffocate or crush, drown or electrocute.
She has been defied for the last time, tortured for long enough.
Once she was an oasis, a place of sanctuary and of growth; now only a ruined shell.
Exploited by those she so graciously swore to nurture.
Green skin has become concrete, oceans full of spillage and debris.
Her limbs are choked with fumes,
Her soul cracked and haggard.
She violently shudders and her vengeance is clear,
Bringing them to their knees, no longer will they feel greed.
Their pleas will no longer suffice;
The damage is done.
With a last gasp of retribution and vengeance, they are silenced.
No more hurt, no more suffering; her wrath has been seen.
Never to been seen again.
The Cut Down Puppet
I knew it was my time to move on
What we had was dead and gone
Though, both scared to lose what had come before
Finding a balance was an uneasy chore.
Sometimes I miss you more than the clouded night sky misses the stars
I wish I could put my feelings into little jars
I would hide them from the rest of the world so no one would ever see
No one at all, not even me.
Sometimes I hate you more than words express,
Wishing the sky would fall and anger be finally supressed.
Its all but a wastedland in which you dropped my heart.
But i'm done with that and i've played my part.
Nothing in this world can bring back the past and make it real
I don’t want a second chance, my heart will heal
I’ll move on and try harder to fly
Although somewhere inside of me the memory will never die.
Retribution - Part 1
Everywhere we go, everywhere we look;
There is not escape from it all.
Money recession, economy, crisis.
This once great world has begun to fall.
No longer focus on proud achievement,
The inspirations of yesterday matter not.
Poverty, disease and pollution.
Some issues that seem to be forgot.
Money is all they see
Governments losing control, we lose trust.
Carrying on regardless,
No one caring for what is just.
Now is the time to rise up and change.
Now is the time to stand and scream.
No longer will we be ignored;
No longer will we lose.
Revolution - Part 2
Here we are altogether now;
United and Strong.
On every street, on every rooftop
Standing against what is wrong.
Numbers gather, beginning to mass;
Increasing and never ending.
Repercussions no longer of consequence -
Injustices too great to stop the message we're sending.
How many will it take?
Blind in their ignorance and obsessive greed.
We will stand up and protest,
Willing them to understand what we need.
Never giving up and never being moved;
Thousands for a revolution.
We will rise up and be heard,
Wanting no less than a retribution.
